Anyway, I'm on the final edit for the final draft of Keeping In Line and wow, I wish I could have been this brutal with the two previous manuscripts. Looking back, it's not that I'm not proud of The Line or A Fine Line, but... Well, they both could use another draft. Of course, if I waited and waited for every letter and every word to be perfect then I would't be where I am today.
I guess I'm simultaneously proud of myself for getting better with each book, and kind of embarassed that there is mediocre work out there with my name on it. You can't 'unpublish' a book, but at the same time, by publishing, I learned so much, and continue to do so. If I hadn't ever published, would I still be where I am today?
There is something kind of fun about taking chunks out, writing brand new scenes, and seeing what your characters were hiding in plain sight. I am legtimately getting excited for this next novel to get out there.
Anyone else feel something similiar?
